What are you willing to give up to get what you want?
Often in life it’s impossible to have everything, choices must be made and they can dramatically change the outcome in your life. While choosing which type of ice cream to get at Dairy Queen may not change much of your day, things like where you’re going to work and the people you’re going to spend your time with can greatly improve or destroy the quality of your life.
Sacrificing parts of your life isn’t for everyone, and getting exactly what you want out of life isn’t for everyone either. The first thing you have to decide is how willing you are to give your life up for the things that you want.
Often the biggest struggle for people, especially in our privileged societies, is fighting against yourself and risk your comfortable life, to take the easy wonderfulness that you have and say it’s not enough, to give it up in pursuit of something more, even the thought of giving up what you’ve worked so hard to achieve can put people off.
At the end of the day I believe we all know that there is sacrifice in getting more, sometimes it’s more simple like giving up more time and money to attend school to get a better job, some people will sacrifice their time in order to work overtime to get more money. In all it depends on how much you really want.
What you put in is what you get out.
In my work environment, several of us have traveled across the country to work in one single office. We’ve traveled, given up the abilities to see our families and friends, we’ve given up our easy, comfortable lives not because we we’re bored of them but because we wanted something more badly enough to chase it.
By sacrificing everything that we had, we have dedicated more time, money, effort and energy than most people even dream of.
Some of the most successful people in our country are immigrants because they gave up everything they’ve ever known to come here and start a new life. They don’t have any secrets, they don’t have any better jobs, they’ve just decided that they want more and they decided to put everything they had to get it.
The biggest problem people have today is that they are born in a nice family, they get a nice simple job that pays the bills and they continue working there for the rest of their life, always wishing for something more.
Nothing in this world is free and no matter how much you search for free and easy, you will never find it.
The road to more is long, treacherous and requires constant sacrifice.
If you’re going through difficult times, you’ve given up parts of your life and you’re now pushing through the difficulties of the new life you’ve created just know that you’ve now overcome the only thing holding you back from having whatever you want in your life.
Look at your life and decide if there’s something more that you can have, decide if there’s somewhere that your efforts are better put. You may have wasteful people, wasteful jobs and habit or maybe the ice cream flavour you chose really did just ruin your week.
You deserve everything in life, the only thing keeping it from you is you accepting the shit that life hands you first.
