Everyone’s Dream Is Different

Many of us struggle to find what we really want out of life and what makes us happy. We imagine that if we can accomplish what someone else before us has, we will be just as happy as they are.

In reality, this is not true.

I lived the millennial dream for the month of September. I traveled the world, didn’t worry about money and just experienced life as it came, and to be honest I really didn’t like it.

The experiences I had were amazing and the people I met were awesome, but when it came down to it, this was someone else dream, not mine. By the end of my “vacation” I was completely sick of traveling and wanted nothing more than to go back to work. I wasn’t home sick and I wasn’t bored, I just wanted to go find and live my own dream.

When we think of what would make us happy so many of us just jump straight towards the things that we have never experienced before and just assume they will make us happy. Some of us want more money and cars, some want more vacations or to become famous, but in the end this is just envying what other people have, not creating a dream and doing everything we can to make it a reality.

If you want to find your dream and your perfect life you need to stop looking at what other people have, you need to completely forget that there are other people and just focus solely on yourself.

This may sound selfish, but to truly discover who you are and what you want you need to shut out the world for a moment and look for something that would excite you no matter how shitty it ended up being.

If your dream is to travel, you need to realize you may live on the streets at times if you want to always be traveling.

If you want to be famous, you need to realize that people will hate you and you will never have privacy.

If you want money and cars, you need to realize that you’re going to have to work harder than you’ve ever had to before to even maintain the ongoing expenses.

Your dream needs to be so big that nothing can take it down, it can’t just be what someone else says they want.

If you have troubles finding your dream and what makes you you, take some time to study psychology and philosophy, there are some amazing things you can find by taking the time to look inwards.
